Global Encounter takes you to stunning locales while revealing the true face of community development. |
About once every two years, Canadian Lutheran World Relief offers the public a trip that takes them into the homes and lives of the people CLWR helps. The trip, called Global Encounter, is tailored as an educational experience for a small and flexible group of travellers.
Previous destinations have included Uganda, Rwanda, India, Peru and Bolivia among others. This web page will be updated with specific trip information when the next Global Encounter gets nearer.
CLWR Global Encounter 2012
CLWR has scheduled a Global Encounter to Southern Africa to be held from February 23 to March 7, 2012.
This GE follows in the tradition of providing an opportunity to engage first hand with CLWR partners, in this case partners in Ethiopia, Mozambique and Zambia. Participants will visit one country and then gather together to travel to Lesotho and become exposed to new innovative approaches to dealing with the HIV/AIDS pandemic. The CLWR Board will also meet during the course of the encounter in Lesotho.
There are a limited number of spaces for the participation of individuals in the GE. A preliminary estimate of cost is expected to be in the $6000 +/- range, all inclusive.
Expressions of interest are invited by no later than September 6, 2011. Further information may be received by contacting Robert Granke, CLWR Executive Director, at rgranke@clwr.mb.ca.
